Huff’s Huddle – March 20 Update

Today, we will have the Sci-Friday volcanic 🌋 eruption that we have been looking forward to. Recreating this experiment at home is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL! Having your child record the notes below in their science notebook (See #5 below) is what I would like them to do. You do not need to have these supplies or make a volcano.

Here is our plan for Friday:

1) Watch our YouTube video.
2) Read Scholastic News found in the purple folder. Go to sn3.scholastic.com to watch videos that accompany the reading articles. Our class access code is PHG7VQM.
3) Complete Written Assessment 19 from the purple folder and send to Mrs. Huff via text, email, or Marco Polo.
4) Take Spelling Test on Spelling City. The word Pompeii should not come up in the test so that the test can be completed. If your child would like more practice before they take the test, they can work on some games or activities found there.
5) Grab your science notebook and turn to a blank page. Record the following information for our Volcanic Chemical Reactions:
Base + Acid = Reaction
Baking Soda + Vinegar = mini volcanic eruption
Students may draw an illustration of the volcano with eruption if they desire in notebook. 🌋

A huge shout out to the Brothers’ family for checking our YouTube lessons and links this past week before I sent out to the entire class. Thanks so much to Mr. Huff for helping me get tech uploaded and edited, too!

Our plan for Monday and newsletter for next week will come out on Sunday by 6.
