Wednesday, February 8

We started the day with chapel.  Seventh grade shared a message on God’s love being the biggest thing!  Mr. Huff lead us in worship.  Can your child remember any of our worship songs from today?  We had visitors from the church come to see how our school works.

We had a mini class meeting to focus on our class family and remembering to use “thinking thoughts.”  We don’t have to say out loud every  little thing that pops into our minds.  Sometimes, it is best to just keep that to ourselves.

We started our biography on Rosa Parks.

We completed our low temperature graph in math.

We are up to 128 A.R tests.

We had computer class.

We practiced for Sunday with fourth grade in the church.  The song the choir is sharing brought me to tears.  They sang so beautifully.  Mrs. Bante noted that we were attentive and singing so well.  Details for Sunday:  Meet in the chapel at 8:40 a.m.  Dress code or better dress.

There is no homework tonight for E-3.  Frog projects are due ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!!!

Tuesday, February 7

We celebrated a birthday.

We had great days in Music and P.E.  We had a great report from Miss Adams on Michigan History.

The Huddle worked on contractions and on learning more about Rosa Parks.

We are working on subtraction with borrowing for a math review since we still have a number of classmates absent.

We are at 77 A.R.s already this week!

Tomorrow is chapel.  We have returned fifteen M&Ms for Money for Missions.

Homework:  Life Cycle of Frog project and subtraction with and without borrowing

Monday, February 6

The Huddle shared about our weekend writing and prayer requests!

We won the Trinity A.R. challenge for the week by reading 200 A.R.s in third grade alone!!  I am SO proud of our reading.

We compared and contrasted the differences between Mr. Popper’s Penguins book and movie in setting, plot, characters, and resolution.

We started a new book about Rosa Parks.  We refreshed expectations on interrupting by reading, My Mouth is a Volcano.

Mrs. L was thrilled with our behavior in Art class and our projects were beautiful.

We had the Kids Heart Challenge assembly.  The Huddle is off to a great start in fund raising already too.

Homework for tonight is a two sided math page on multiplication and two column addition.  Keep working on the Life Cycle of a Frog projects too.

The Huddle is pumped for our Life Cycle of a Frog project.  I will not have a fluency assignment this week or next week with the projects.  Projects are due on Wednesday, February 15.  We will return to math homework this week now that the NWEA winter testing is completed.  There will be no cursive words this week in spelling as we are focusing on contractions this week.

The class read 185 books this week for A.R.  I am loving the reading that is happening in these winter days.  Now that we have completed The New Year Dragon Dilemma, we will be reading a biography about the life of Rosa Parks.

The Huddle had an amazing week last week in special classes.  Other teachers are noticing how we are maturing and growing as a class.  Would you be sure to share with your child how proud I am of their efforts and good choices?

In His Love, Mrs. Huff

Thursday, February 2

I am thrilled to report that the Huddle did such an AMAZING job in choir today that we were examples for students older than us.  WAY TO GO, HUDDLE!  P.E. went super well too.  I love sharing great reports with you!

Today, in science, we learned about Wilson Bentley and microscopic photographs of snowflakes.  Willie was nicknamed, “Snowflake Bentley” for his incredible contribution to details imagery of snowflakes.  We also learned more about frogs.  I shared a few PowerPoints from former students to give more ideas of what to do on the PowerPoint option.

We are up to 142 A.R.s this week!!

We had class meeting.  I am so proud of the maturity that the Huddle is showing in class.

The Huddle is in the lead for most M&M tubes returned so far for Money for Missions.  Thank you for saving those quarters.

The only homework for tomorrow is fluency on January and National Popcorn Day.
